This year Liverpool Pride is literally shining a light on diversity by committing to making Liverpool the most visibly LGBT+ friendly city in the UK.
The first campaign as part of this commitment is Come Out Of The Shadows, which will encourage organisations and buildings to transform themselves, inside and out using light filtered with the famous Pride rainbow colours during this year’s event in July.
This will showcase Liverpool, both inwardly and outwardly, as an inclusive, diverse and tolerant LGBT+ friendly city, while at the same time helping to educate, raise awareness and normalise LGBT+ in all its forms. The overall aim is to make Liverpool a safer place for residents and visitors alike. The campaign is supported by the Police Commissioner’s Fund as a Hate Crime initiative.
Last year, St George’s Hall Liverpool generated major media coverage and received more than 250,000 social media views worldwide after the iconic venue was transformed when it was lit with the rainbow colours to show its support for Liverpool Pride. We’re building on this success and encouraging others to follow suit by showing their support.
‘Dress with Pride’ to raise awareness and show support to LGBT staff, customers and the wider community.
We are also encouraging customer facing organisations to ‘Dress With Pride’ by allowing their employees to dress up either using the 2016 Pride theme of ‘Liverpool Icons’ or using the Pride colours.
